Created in 1945, eponymous womens line Pierre Balmain influenced the rise of New French Style and played a significant role in the arrival of ready-to-wear couture with his ultra-feminine, opulent designs. After his passing, the brand got a revamped rock-and-roll infused aesthetic under the creative direction of Christophe Decarnin until 2011. Now, current creative director and former designer at Roberto Cavalli, Olivier Rousteing melds the artisan roots of the Pierre Balmain brand with the sophisticatedly edgy modern aesthetic.
