Our CEO, Michael Mente, sat down with Offset to talk cars, fashion, culture and humility:

I can’t help but notice your watch. Not your average piece. How did you get into collecting watches?

I fell in love with the watch stuff when I started seeing how it just rolls. In a year or two years it still holds its value. Most cars don’t do that. Even a house doesn’t return value like that unless you’re holding it for 10 years. It’s a great investment, and you meet people because of it. I was shooting craps in Vegas and met one the head people at UFC all because they noticed my watch.

You’re a car guy as well. I like your mix of foreign and old school cars. What are some of your favorites right now?

I love the old cars, I have a 1968 Pontiac Judge, a ’71 Pontiac Ventura, a ’69 Droptop Cutlass. I like to switch it up and keep it fresh every quarter. I build all my cars in Atlanta. The culture is that nobody respects you if you just buy a car and it’s ready. At least you gotta touch it or something. You should be able to know what you got when you lift up the hood. See, I like muscle cars. I like a carburetor. I want to let you know I’m in the building.

How does being from the South affect your style?

Big influence. In Atlanta, we call it being a player. You gotta know how to dress like a player. You gotta be true to yourself still, but it’s about putting nice colors and styles together and being particular about how you wear your shoes and how you wear your clothes.

I know you’ve been working on some business ventures this year, what have you been doing?

I’m part of FaZe Clan [an e-sports organization]. I put in on the company. Great company. They have a lifestyle element attached to them and they’re kinda like artists and just encourage their people to be themselves. I love the gaming space. It’s so big but people still don’t know about it. These kids are able to talk online with friends they’ve never seen and it’s bringing peace to the community behind the scenes because they don’t care if you’re Black or White or Asian or whatever, it’s all about the games. And it’s taking over the world. Gaming is now selling out arenas.

I have a show coming up too, it’s a car-based show where I hit up some of my favorite artists and we see what they got. We might race. We might modify the cars. Wach episode is different depending on who’s on it with us.

We’re also recording the Culture 3 album; it’s been almost two years since the last Migos record so it’s time to come back and shut this shit down. We wanted to chill out for a minute and let people do their thing, but now it’s time to come back.

One of the coolest things today was you pausing that shoot to help that lady get onto the Bus. A lot of respect to you for that. Maybe a side of you people don’t usually see?

A lot of guys get lost in being a human and walk past stuff like that. I just can’t. I have grandparents. I see the struggle and I try to help. That might be you one day. I give back whenever I can. I just don’t post about it or anything because I want to come from a good place, and not making it about the scene.
