‘I’m big in Japan’ is a joke as old and overused as any, but for internet-personality-cum-fashion-star Kemio, it’s very much a reality. In his native country of Japan, he is swarmed by crowds of adoring fans and has amassed a massive YouTube following of over 1.2 million subscribers. Yet here, in his newfound home of Los Angeles, he is able to live in relative obscurity.

Kemio’s decision to leave Japan and move to Los Angeles might seem strange on the surface, but the move (along with almost weekly vlogs discussing life in LA) has only increased his influence, as fans from Japan, Korea, China and elsewhere across the globe marvel at what his life in a new city is like.

An ability to introduce his predominately eastern audience to western culture has caught the attention of many brands and industries, with Kemio being spotted front row at some of fashion’s top runway shows and his involvement in various brand deals and partnerships.
